Tottenham have announced the signing of Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton. The 25-year-old signed for five seasons with José Mourinho’s team at a cost of £ 15 million.
The curious side is that Hojbjerg was “favorite” of Pep Guardiola in the days of Bayern Munich, where the Catalan coach worked between 2013 and 2016 and in which the new reinforcement of the Spurs became professional. In the book “Guardiola confidential”, the author Martí Perarnau describes the affection of the Manchester City coach with Hojbjerg:
“It only took two pieces of training for Pep to fall in love with Hojbjerg’s football. They had already spoken well of him: excellent reports and an exceptional future. He has vision, a reading of the game that allows him to overcome a line of five rivals with a single pass. Guardiola, he feels that he could be Bayern’s Busquets, even though at that moment it was just a 17-year-old promise with a lot to mature “, says an excerpt from the work.
